Our team helps you every step of the way, finding the financing and incentives that are best suited for your project.  Lowering your project costs and unlocking capital through one of our tax incentive programs for eligible projects.  The Essex County IDA works closely with local taxing jurisdictions to offer real property tax abatements and exemption from sales, use and mortgage taxes to assist new and expanding businesses that will positively impact the region. 

  • Real Property Tax Abatement - Applies to the value added by construction or renovation for 10 years once a project is complete
  • Sales and Use Tax Exemption - Developers can purchase project-related construction materials, equipment, furnishings, and services with an exemption from state and local sales and use taxes as an agent of the Essex County IDA
  • Mortgage Recording Tax Abatement - Financing need not be provided by the Essex County IDA to  be eligible for this savings when recording mortgage at the Essex County Clerk's Office.
