Economic
Development/Planning/ Publicity Committee Meeting
Ticonderoga
Supervisor Bob Dedrick - "Without the IDA, I don't know
if we could have ever brought this 9N and 74 project to fruition.
What this is going to mean to the Town of Ticonderoga and
what this is going to mean for the sales tax for Essex County
is huge. What has basically happened, the entire area
of Wicker Street by the Wagon Wheel all the way to the car
wash has new sewer. Since, this municipal sewer has
gone in my phone has rung, just about once or twice a week,
commerical businesses that are looking for available land
along, basically Route 9N north, to relocate there.
That is going to be a huge benefit to the Town of Ticonderoga
and a huge benefit for the County of Essex. Jody, without
you and Carol, I don't know if this project would have ever
happened. It was completed yesterday and I want to thank
you very much."

Supervisor Tom Scozzafava - "I would like to echo, Bob,
what you are saying I can tell you without the assistance
and help from the IDA, we would not be constructing a new
Health Center and I know Jody worked many, many hours in coordinating
all the different, seven or eight different funding sources
for this Health Center and has done a tremendous amount of
work and I can state that without their assistance it woudn't
have happened, so I thank you on behalf of the Town."
Lewis
Supervisor Anthony Glebus - "It is really great this
morning to see the recognition that comes from the Supervisors
in regards and the gratitude that is being given to the IDA
as well as the girls that really work as hard on the projects
that they get themselves into. Some of these projects,
as you know are quite monumental in size and everything else
and they do such an excellent job and I've heard nothing,
but good things from a lot of people in regards to the operation
of the IDA and what the girls are doing over all as well,
so it's nice to see it on the floor here this morning.
Some recognition for all good things that they do for Essex
County and the businesses here, too.

Valley Specialty - Jerry Dygert
The Essex County IDA has been very instrumental in helping us get our processing facility up and running. They have helped us not only in the financial aspect, but also in business development and planning. They have also referred us to other agencies to help in other areas of development. Their response to our needs have far exceeded our expectations.
Curves for Women – New start up business - Ticonderoga
“The Essex County IDA really helped out a lot,” Pam Bedard (owner of Curves) said, “and Carol Calabrese is wonderful.”
The Essex County Industrial Development Agency worked closely with the town and the APA to develop the commerce park and will be responsible for promoting it and selling lots.
“Without her, we couldn’t have done any of this,” Supervisor Gerald Morrow said of IDA Co-Executive Director Jody Olcott.
Ticonderoga Supervisor Bob Dedrick – Praised the IDA staff members Carol Calabrese and Jody Olcott for finding a tenant for the Ticonderoga Commerce Park.
Lewis Supervisor Anthony Glebus – “I would like to publicly thank Jody, Carol and everybody at the IDA working so diligently getting this Ticonderoga Spec Building sold”.
Jay Supervisor Thomas O’Neill – “I would like to publicly thank Carol and Jody and the IDA staff for the tremendous job that they did with Mountain Valley Teleservices”.
Crown Point Supervisor Dale French – “In 2002 there were a number of significant economic projects in Essex County, we had Adirondack Digital Imaging – Essex Box & Pallet Co. – Old Adirondack – the Elizabethtown Hospital Community Health project – we had our Adirondack Health Harvest off the ground which is now coming out of its infancy. The best thing we cab do when entrepreneurs come forward with an idea, as government the best thing we can do is get out of their way because we often create more problems than we solve for them but we do have a very excellent IDA that has helped these projects. |
